Our senior examiners looked closely at how students responded to the question, and, following the completion of marking, our assessment team conducted data analysis to evaluate whether the error had had any impact on students’ outcomes. Question 7 was selected by a larger number of students than question 8 and the mean number of marks awarded was higher on question 7 than on question 8.
Our examiners found no patterns of performance that indicated that the reference to a second writing form had had any negative impact on student outcomes.
From results day, teachers who have been granted access and who have received student consent may download the scripts for any students about whom they have concerns using the free Access to Scripts service.
