2021-2022 Teaching, learning and assessment support
This is a reminder on the mitigations that applies to assessment in the 2021-2022 academic year.
Streamlined Assessment Adaptations
For BTEC Firsts and Nationals, internally assessed units, the streamlined assessment adaptations apply in 2021-2022. With streamlined assessment, all content must be thought and only 1 learning aim assessed from the unit/s selected. Depending on the qualification size, streamlining would apply to 1 or 2 units. The guidance document below will show how many units can be streamlined.
Please note that streamlined assessment adaptations can apply to mandatory internal units as a last resort, but cannot apply to synoptic units. Please read through the guidance document below. In this document, you will find information on what streamlined assessment is, the principles (page 8), information on how many units can be streamlined and guidance on how to submit streamlined units on edexcel online.
BTEC Tech Awards - in unit adaptations
BTEC Tech Award in Engineering has in-unit adaptations, which is the same from the 2020-2021 academic year. This adaptation for Engineering means:
- Teaching all content
- For component 1, assessing only Learning aim B (no physical model required)
- For component 2, assessing Learning aim A and either Learning aim B or Learning aim C (2A+2B or 2A+2C).
Further details on this can be accessed from the guidance document below.
Further guidance on external assessments, managing absence, sector guides and more can be accessed from the teaching, learning and assessment in 2021-2022 page below.
