Component 1 GCSE and A level duologue option
We are very happy to announce a new development in the GCSE and A level Drama qualifications following on from our recent communications.
After consulting with Ofqual, we now offer a duologue performance option alongside the group performance for component 1, first teach September 2025, and first assessment in 2027.
The updated specifications are now live on the Pearson Qualifications website.
We are delighted that this now provides more flexibility for both teachers and students, reducing the need for non-assessed individuals.
As always, we are open to feedback regarding the current qualification and look forward to hearing your thoughts on the above change and any further recommendations.
New Admin Support Guides 2026

It contains:
- the key dates for this academic year
- a breakdown of the requirements for each Component
- a link to the Live Theatre Evaluation Confirmation Form
- guidance on how to use LWT

Moderator Reports (E9)
Your moderator writes a report to explain where it was necessary to adjust your centre’s marks. Where possible, your moderator advises you on how you could make improvements for future series.
You can find these on Edexcel Online. Please speak to your examinations officer if you don't have access to Edexcel Online.
Watch our short video on how to find your Moderator Report.
ResultsPlus
ResultsPlus is a free online results analysis tool for teachers that gives you a detailed breakdown of your students’ performance in Edexcel exams. It provides the most detailed analysis available of your students’ performance and helps you to identify topics and skills where your students could benefit from further learning, helping them gain a deeper understanding of their subject.
Access to scripts
You can now view and download scripts which have been marked online free of charge from our self-service portal via Edexcel Online.
You can save and/or print any scripts you need for teaching and learning purposes before the deadline(to be confirmed but is usually in December).
Scripts do not have examiner annotation on them.
The marked script allows teachers to evaluate how the student performed on particular questions in relation to what they have been taught; the Principal Examiner's report and the exemplars that we make available demonstrate how the mark scheme is applied.
If scripts have been marked "traditionally" (i.e. not online), centres will have to request them via the Post Results section of Edexcel Online as in previous exam series.
These scripts will also be free of charge, but the final dates to request them are the same as the published JCQ Access to Scripts deadlines.
These scripts will also be free of charge, but the final dates to request them are the same as the published JCQ Access to Scripts deadlines.
Facebook Drama group
We have a Facebook Drama community group for teachers. It's a private, professional group, created to support teacher in delivering our Drama and Theatre qualifications.
Teachers can use this group to field teaching and learning ideas, ask general questions and connection with other Drama and Theatre teachers.
I will be available to respond to queries on the group every week day between 9 and 5pm.
