Deadline to submit NEA marks and sample for moderation is 15 May 2023. This update is to help you administer your NEA submissions for this series.
Assessing and Marking Candidates NEA portfolios
In summer 2023, the NEA is assessed with the full assessment criteria, availalbe in the specification documents for both GCSE and A level Design and Technology.
Below are some useful resources to help with marking your cohorts NEA portfolios.

Informing candidates of their centre assessed marks
Centres have for many years been required to have a written internal appeals procedure relating to internal assessment decisions. As part of this procedure, candidates must be informed of the mark given by their centre for a centre assessed component/unit.

Sample visibility
Around mid-April your selected sample for moderation will be visible in edexcel online. The sample will be indicated with a green tick in the student list, where NEA marks are submitted.
If the selected sample does not include highest and/or lowest candidates, please add these to your sample additionally.
Viewing your sample in edexcel online
Please note: You may need to amend your Edexcel Online access to allow you to submit coursework marks online. To do this your exams officer will need to go into your Edexcel Online account and under ‘profiles’ tick the box next to ‘Coursework and Portfolio’.

Mark submissions on Edexcel Online
NEA marks for each candidate must be submitted to Pearson by 15 May. The guidance in the link below will take you through the steps required to submit marks in edexcel online.
Please note: You may need to amend your Edexcel Online access to allow you to submit coursework marks online. To do this your exams officer will need to go into your Edexcel Online account and under ‘profiles’ tick the box next to ‘Coursework and Portfolio’.
Submission of samples for moderation on Learner Work Transfer (LWT)
Samples will be submitted digitally through LWT.
Sample to include:
- Learner portfolios
- Photos of final prototype
- Candidate Assessment Booklet (excel)
- Authentication sheet, signed by assessor and learner.
