Withdrawal of Applied GCSEs from 2017
As part of the government’s GCSE reform, we're withdrawing the option of Applied GCSE for learners from 2017.
The current range of Applied GCSEs are being withdrawn, so the last first-teach date is September 2016. We're developing our plans for our curriculum offer from 2017 and will be in touch when we can confirm them.
The following courses are being withdrawn:
- GCSE Applied Business
- GCSE Engineering
- GCSE Health and Social Care
- GCSE Leisure and Tourism
- GCSE Manufacturing
Your Edexcel Applied GCSEs will be available until 2017, so you can be confident about choosing the right course for your applied learners over the next few years with plenty of time to plan.
What does this mean for my learners?
From September 2017, you'll need to have moved your learners onto either Edexcel GCSEs or the BTEC First qualifications, but we will be in touch with more information as soon as we confirm our plans.
