Higher Nationals: External Examination in 2021
We were in touch earlier this month with an update on our proposed adaptations for Pearson BTEC Higher National delivery and assessment in 2021, and to share the resources and guidance available to support you and your students.
We said that we will confirm before the end of October 2020 how we plan to conduct External Examiner visits during the 2020/2021 academic year.
Remote visits in 2020/21
We appreciate the level of changes to teaching, learning and assessment you needed to put in place last academic year due to the pandemic.
To help with your planning, we are keen to confirm that External Examination for the academic year 20/21 will be remote, and not undertaken via a provider visit.
Updated Quality Assurance guidance
Our centre handbooks are being updated to reflect the remote approach for 2020/21. We will incorporate the key aspects of the External Examiner visits, so that you continue to receive the support and feedback from the External Examiners, albeit remotely.
The guidance will be published ahead of you receiving notification of your External Examiner in late November, after 15 November 2020/21 academic year registration deadline.
