New BTEC Higher Nationals in Business (RQF)
We are delighted to announce that the revalidation of the Higher Nationals in Business which is available for first teach from September 2021.
The new qualifications include enhanced work-related curriculum that is designed to address an increasing need for high quality professional and technical education pathways at Levels 4 and 5, equipping students with the right skills and competencies for the workplace or progression to further higher education study.

We produced a short video to introduce you to the new BTEC Higher Nationals in Business. This will give you a glance of the changes we made during the re-development and what they mean for you and your students.
Programme approval
The current Higher Nationals in Business (2016) will expire 31 August 2021. To register new students beyond this date, you will need to apply for programme approval.
To do this, simply submit a declaration form, and your request will be processed in line with your approval status.
What does it mean for current registrations?
Once the current Higher Nationals in Business expires 31 August 2021, existing HNC/D students can continue to complete their studies on the current specification.
For existing HNC in Business students registered (full or part time) on the programme completing this academic year (2020/2021), and who are looking to top up to the HND, we would advise you to register them onto the current HND in Business (2016) by 31 August 2021.
Those HNC in Business students completing (full or part time) after 31 August 2021 can still be registered as top ups, but any HNC in Business transfers will have to be registered by contacting examsofficer@pearson.com who will be able to complete registration manually.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Alternatively, students can be transferred or topped up to the new specification from 1 September 2021. However, this will require processing students using the following Recognition of Prior Learning policy together with the HN RPL mapping document.
Meeting Local Needs
Please note that any existing structures in place for Meeting Local Needs will need to be approved again for the new specification.
