Pearson Level 1 and below August 2024 newsletter
Hello and welcome to the Pearson Level 1 and below newsletter for August 2024 covering all things below level 2 including Level 1 Intro, Entry Level, BTEC Workskills and BTEC Personal Growth and Wellbeing.
Wishing all of you a happy August whatever you are doing. I hope many of you get some well-earned rest and get the opportunity to catch up with friends and family.
Cycle 3 Reform Update
As many predicted, we now have a new government. As of yet we have not received any information as to what this might mean for the proposed reforms for these qualifications in 2027. Once we have further information you can rest assured, we will pass this information on to you as soon as possible.
New Resources
We have listened to feedback from our centres who made the request to have more exemplar assignment briefs available for Level 1 Intro units.
We are pleased to announce we now have available to you an exemplar assignment brief for every available unit across the entire suite! As usual please feel free to write your own assignment briefs or adapt these to suit your needs moving forwards.
We hope you find these useful. Please note they are exemplar assignment briefs and not authorised assignment briefs which some of you will be familiar with from other qualifications.
To discover these resources please visit the relevant webpage for the qualification you are interested in.
On Demand Training
With the new term in September rapidly approaching we have focused in July in adding more content to our amazing training channel.
We strongly recommend that you bookmark this page, so that you can benefit from the content as a result of any training needs you have across the year.
This month's new content is a recording of our online training on how to use our Entry 1 and 2 Pre-Vocational Studies to teach ICT as a replacement for Functional Skills ICT.
Teaching Entry 1 2 ICT in schools or colleges using BTEC Pre Vocational Studies (51:02mins)
This excellent content if you are needing an ICT qualification to support your learners at a lower level.
We have also added some bitesize support videos to help support you with various aspects of your provision. These are really vital if you are new to Pearson or our qualifications, and I recommend that you dip in and out of these as required.
The content is as follows:
A Guide to Writing Assignment Briefs (8:27mins)
Command Verbs for Level 1- What is Required and Why? (5:46mins)
New Content for August on the Skills Channel
Please save our playlist on YouTube for the latest Teaching and Learning Skills Video.
Our latest video is about the Art of Questioning.
Often in the Level 1 and Entry Classroom learners find certain contexts difficult to access. In this video we discuss the concept of “The art of questioning” and consider how we can use questioning effectively to help support lower ability learners.
You can watch the skills video if you are interested on YouTube
Monthly Blog
In this blog we discuss how to support school avoidants back into the classroom. Entry and Level 1 learners are more likely than most to struggle with school and therefore potentially become school avoiders. In this blog we will review some strategies to help support students to remain in school.
Please enjoy the rest if you are having some and please reach out if you need support from us as we approach the new academic year.
With best wishes
Kelly Adams
