GCSE Citizenship Studies amends 2022
DfE new content requirements
The DfE (Department for Education) has recently released new content requirements for a range of subjects, including GCSE Citizenship Studies, to reflect the UK’s departure from the European Union. The DfE’s GCSE subject content for Citizenship Studies document, was updated on the 23rd of May and is available for you to view and/or download:
Pearson Edexcel GCSE Citizenship Studies
Implications resulting from changes to the subject content will result in some minor but important amendments to Pearson's specification and sample assessment material for GCSE Citizenship Studies.
Because of this, we are currently in consultation with a range of stakeholders to ensure all changes made are well informed, timely and will be supported by providing the accompanying resources and guidance our centres will need, to be able to confidently deliver the revised content.
Implications for teaching and assessment
All changes made are intended to come in to effect for first teaching, September 2022 and first assessment Summer 2024. We will be publishing guidance about what the changes mean and new support material shortly.
Please note the the 2023 exam series will remain unchanged.
