What are V Levels

Designed to sit alongside A levels and T Levels, they simplify the current qualification landscape and provide learners with flexible, future-focused options.

Why V Levels matter

  • Broaden opportunities: Help students explore sectors by putting work-relevant skills into practice.
  • Applied and rigorous: Proposed to be the same size as A levels, covering essential sector knowledge and skills.
  • Flexible combinations: Students can take V Levels alongside other V Levels, A levels or Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Clear progression routes: Content linked to occupational standards to support higher education, apprenticeships, and employment.

Pearson’s commitment

With over 40 years of expertise in vocational and technical education, Pearson will design our V Levels to be relevant, authentic, and meet employer needs—giving you confidence in what you deliver.

What’s next?

Until V Levels are introduced in your subject area, BTECs (including new AAQs in some subjects) remain available and approved for delivery. Refer to your Level 3 funding guide for details.
