Pearson Edexcel AS and A level Politics (2017)
Here you'll find everything you need to prepare for AS and A level Politics including our specification and sample assessment materials (first teaching: 2017, first assessment AS: 2018, first assessment A level: 2019).
Understanding power, people and ideas
Our new qualifications will help students to develop knowledge and understanding of the role politics plays in relation to current local, national, and global issues, as well as studying key thinkers and political ideas. Each topic in our specification is fully detailed, providing you with the full range of breadth and depth to teach.
We have kept the content your students enjoy, including Political Parties, Elections and Roles of Parliament. New content is introduced within a clear and coherent structure so you know exactly what the new teaching and learning requirements are. To be manageable, our content is co-teachable to support the separate AS and A level qualifications.
We’ve added new contemporary content which is relevant to teachers and students, including Constitutional History, Voter Behaviour and The Role of the Media, and given teachers the freedom to choose their own examples. A level students have the widest choice of stimulating topics with the option to study either US Government and Politics, or Global Politics.
Our new papers will build confidence through ramped questions, increasing in demand throughout the paper. A choice of questions and engaging source material will help motivate all students to succeed.
We’ll provide a wealth of free and published support to help you plan, teach, track and assess throughout the course, including topic-specific guides to help you manage the additional and new content.
Our Politics subject experts are available to answer your queries and provide guidance with the support materials available.
