New Pharmacy qualification
Our new Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians is now available for first teaching in February 2020.
Following our recognition event, the General Pharmaceutical Council has recommended this qualification for full approval and have confirmed and released the following statement:
“In April 2019, the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians qualification learning outcomes and assessment strategy was provisionally recognised by the GPhC. In November 2019, the qualification and its delivery by Pearson was recommended for full approval for a period of six years. This is subject to the Registrar of the GPhC giving final approval which may take up to 10 weeks. The GPhC recognises that this length of time may impact on the development of the qualification material by centre providers approved by Pearson. Therefore, the GPhC has given approval by exception for Pearson to advertise the qualification.”
We are running a series of events to support you in planning the delivery and assessment for this new qualification.
The events include:
An overview of the qualification and Q&A:
Getting Ready to Teach:
For both of the above events you will be required to have viewed a pre-recorded webinar. The link to this webinar will be sent to you once you have registered.
We are also developing an optional Level 2 qualification to support the Pharmacy Service Assistant Apprenticeship Standard.
In England, there will be a separate version of this qualification which integrates end-point assessment and therefore can be used as the on-programme qualification for the Pharmacy Technician (Integrated)apprenticeship standard.
