Engineering update June 2018
This June 2018 news item covers updates on BTEC qualifications and apprenticeship standards.
Robotics and Automation
Calling all Robotics and Automation enthusiasts! We are looking for people to help design the content of new units to be added to the BTEC Nationals in Engineering.
We are looking to introduce new optional units in Robotics and Automation and are seeking support from lecturers and people within the industry to help form the content of these units.
We are looking to start designing the content of these units during July/August. If you are interested in being part of this group, please contact Bryony Leonard for more information.
BTEC First and National qualifications
We are currently in the process of extending our 2010 suite of BTEC Nationals to 31st August 2021, as well as our NQF BTEC First qualifications (Certificate, Extended Certificate and Diploma) until 31st December 2024. If you are able to provide a letter of support, please contact Bryony Leonard and we can send you a template.
Pearson qualifications in apprenticeship standards
The document below shows many of the popular apprenticeship standards and which Pearson qualifications can be used as part of the on-programme delivery element (either as mandatory or as optional).
Advanced Engineering Manufacturing qualification
This qualification is based on the previous BTEC National in Engineering (QCF). As such, learners who had previously completed a BTEC National can use these units as Accredited Prior Learning (APL) against the new qualification that is used in many Engineering apprenticeship standards. We have created a mapping document to assist centres in understanding which units can be used in the new qualification as APL.
