Engineering Update - August 2020
An update on everything new within the Engineering sector.
Updates to qualifications
We have a new pathway within our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) suite of qualifications in the Diploma and Extended Diploma sizes. Medical Engineering has been designed with experts from NHS England to help learners who want to become a Medical Engineer or are currently looking at starting an Apprenticeship programme in this area. For more information, please see our qualification specification.

We have a new Level 2 qualification and a new Level 3 qualification available for delivery from the 1 September 2020:
603/6351/4 - Pearson BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations (Knowledge). Designed to meet the mandatory qualification requirements in the Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard, it is also available for full time students who are looking for a qualification that will help them to gain employment in the Engineering sector.
603/6352/6 - Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Composites Engineering (Knowledge). This qualification is a replacement for the existing qualification (603/3186/0 - Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Composites Engineering) which is being withdrawn on the 31 August 2020. This qualification meets the mandatory qualification requirement for the Composites Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard but is also beneficial for learners who are looking to work in the Composites Engineering industry or would like to improve their knowledge of Composites.
