January 2015 update

Funding update
We are pleased to confirm the SFA have approved our application for funding for the following qualifications:
- 60142339 Pearson Edexcel Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Thermal Insulation (Construction) (QCF)
- 60142935 Pearson Edexcel Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction Operations and Civil Engineering Services - Construction Operations (Construction) (QCF).
BTEC Nationals in Construction and the Built Environment
We're redeveloping our BTEC Nationals in Construction and the Built Environment to meet new government technical level requirements and to ensure they're fit for purpose for today’s industry. If you are involved in delivering the current versions, we would very much welcome your input into a short survey, to validate our intentions on design and assessment.
NVQ updates during 2015 to new National Occupational Standards
Further to revisions to occupational standards by CITB, please find below an updated list of NVQs to be amended before 1 June 2015.
Please note that there are additions to this list from previous updates, where new Plant Operations units are included as optional units within other qualification’s structures, therefore requiring minor amendments.

2015 projects
We are currently scoping a number of potential new developments for projects to launch during 2015. We would greatly appreciate your input into this, especially if you have particular demand from learners or employers to deliver any of the following qualifications, or simply to confirm you support the proposed developments:
Engineering Surveying Operations Level 2 NVQ
Employers working on the Crossrail project have identified a need for an NVQ to cover the competence of a 'Chain person' role carrying out technical support in construction and civil engineering surveying. It would provide progression to other technical roles at level 3 in surveying, covered by existing qualifications, for example Construction Contracting Operations. Currently there are no qualifications to cover this occupation at level 2. Discussions are in place to develop this as a Trailblazer project under the reformed apprenticeship standards.
Building Multi-Trade Refurbishment and Repair NVQ and Technical Certificates at level 3
This would offer a progression route from Building Multi-Trade Repair and Refurbishment (replaces Building Maintenance NVQ by November 2014).
Streetworks qualification
We are currently scoping demand to develop a competence qualification leading to the new streetworks act as a licence to practise.
