Construction update - July 2022

New Site Supervision and Site Management Qualifications

The following qualifications have been updated to new National Occupational Standards and are available from 1 July 2022. The previous versions will close to new registrations on 30 August 2022, with a certification end date of 30 August 2024.

• Pearson Edexcel L4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision | 610/0970/2
• Pearson Edexcel L6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management | 610/0696/6

We have transferred all centres approvals, per pathway where there is like-for-like transfer between the old and new. The main change is the introduction of new retrofit pathways. 

New BTEC Nationals in Construction

Please note that new versions of the specifications for first teaching in September 2022 are available from the BTEC Nationals landing page. Changes are minor in scope but relate to updated content for digital design competencies, modern materials/ technology, retrofit and some clarification about the level of understanding required in the BIM unit.

Please note that we're applying for extensions to qualifications where they're still needed by our providers. From August, new national apprenticeship and schools-based qualifications are the mandated qualifications for most main trades (not awarded by Pearson), so the extensions are mainly to technician qualifications and higher level qualifications, or to trades qualifications that are for 19+ learners only, due to the funding restriction.
