EYE Apprenticeship: what will the changes be?
Changes to the requirements for entry to Early Years apprenticeships come into effect on 1 August 2015. Find out more about the changes below.
The new Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) qualification was launched in September 2014.
This qualification was a direct replacement for the Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s Workforce (QCF) pathway 1 (Early Learning and Childcare) which has now expired.
Under the current guidance, learners must have achieved English and Maths GCSEs at grade A*-C on completion of the Early Years Educator qualification. This is a transitional arrangement and from 1 August 2015 English and Maths GCSEs at grade C or above will be required on entry for apprenticeships for the Early Years sector.
There is only a short period of time now to offer the GCSE alongside the Advanced Apprenticeship for the Early Years Educator before the new rules come into effect on 1 August 2015.
Please see entry conditions to this framework in the Children and Young People's Workforce (England)
