This month's Business sector update includes information on some changes to our qualifications, and some new assessment materials.

New and improved Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Business

It is with great excitement that the Pearson Higher Nationals team announces the release of the new Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals in Business.

To support the improvement of quality assurance for the new qualifications, and align them more with UKHE, we have also made a few key changes to some of the elements of how these qualifications will be approved and priced. We've created a page where you can:

Business and Administration Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ)

Business and Administration SVQ2 and SVQ3

Pearson Work Based Learning and Colleges wishes to advise centres that the following SVQs expired for learner registrations as of 29 February 2016.

On 1 March 2016, the following newly accredited SVQs at both SCQF Level 5 and SCQF Level 6 were launched and reflect the most current Business and Administration National Occupational Standards (NOS).

Business Skills onscreen assessment materials: Full unit sample tests available

Pearson Work Based Learning and Colleges wishes to remind centres that full sample practice tests for the mandatory knowledge units within the following business skills apprenticeship and standalone qualifications are available.

Notification of the withdrawal of apprenticeship frameworks

Pearson Work Based Learning and Colleges wishes to advise centres of the withdrawal of the first batch of Business Skills related SASE frameworks from 1 June 2016 as part of apprenticeship reforms.

You will be aware that as part of apprenticeship reforms, there have been no new SASE frameworks developed or issued since 31 August 2014 and that new apprenticeship standards are being developed by groups of employers (Trailblazers).

BIS have confirmed that funding for new starts will be ceased on the frameworks listed below on 1 June 2016 and from this date there will be no further starts on these frameworks.

Apprentices still completing their apprenticeship on these frameworks will continue to do so, on their agreed funding arrangements, and their apprenticeship completion certificate can be claimed in the usual manner.
