Entry Level Certificate

In the new year we are running a training event online for anyone interested in the Entry Level Certificate. This online session is designed to prepare teachers who are planning to deliver Pearson's Edexcel Entry Level Certificate in Religious Studies for the first time.

GCSE

This term we are running a training event online for GCSE Religious Studies teachers to explore teaching and learning strategies and understanding/insight into the application of marking principles for GCSE Religious Studies, with a particular focus on (d) evaluation questions on the following date:

GCSE Exam Insights Events

On 10 October, we ran an online training session for teachers wishing to take an in depth look at feedback relating to our GCSE Religious Studies, specification A (1RA0) and specification B (1RB0) summer 2024 exam series.

Online CPD Events 

On 12 November we ran a training event online for A level Religious Studies teachers who wished to familiarise and/or improve their understanding of assessment practices and marking. 

We are planning to release the pack from these events on the Teaching and Learning site under 'Past Training Content' soon. I will provide links in future updates when they become available.

Vacancies 

GCSE and International GCSE Religious Studies Principal Examiner and Content Author vacancies

We are currently recruiting for Principal Examiner and Content Author for GCSE Religious Studies B for 1RB0 1C, 2C, 3C and Content Author for International GCSE Religious Studies 4RS1 and WRS1. 

The Principal Examiner is there to ensure that the standards of an externally assessed unit(s)/module(s)/component(s) are maintained and are consistent with the unit specification and assessment criteria. The Principal Examiner should oversee the standardisation of Examiners.

The Content Author is there to produce error-free, factually accurate assessments that align with the subject specification.

Topic of the month

Every month, we release an edition of 'Topic of the Month' with the aim of supporting cultural capital and stimulating discussion within the classroom.

Each edition ties a current news event to our qualification content and enables students to see the bigger picture of what they are learning and how it relates to the world around them.  Each edition includes a link to an article alongside some key discussion questions to encourage thought around the subject.

Westminster Abbey Annual Sixth Form Question Time provides an opportunity for students to debate, pose questions to a panel of politicians, activists and faith leaders, discussing their concerns and interests.

64 Million Artists (supported by Pearson) have created a resource pack for schools to support delivery of The January Challenge 2025. This initiative will help more students, and more teachers feel creative at school, creating a stronger sense of community, agency, wellbeing, and a capacity to engage with the curriculum.
