July 2024 Psychology subject update

16 June 2024

Welcome to your Pearson Edexcel Psychology July 2024 subject update.

Hello colleagues,

If this reaches you during your holiday, I hope that you are not spending too much of it on this kind of work (apologies for adding to it!) and that you have a very well-deserved break.

Ahead of results day, there is a reminder here about the Pearson authenticator app in case you have not recently logged in to Edexcel Online and will need to on or around the results days in August, and a link to my earlier 'Getting Ready for Results Day' update and our Post-exam series survey in case you have some more time now to look at those!

Looking ahead to the new term, there are links to register for Exam Insights training for GCSE and UK A Level psychology, I look forward to talking to some of you at those.

Best wishes,

Tim Lawrence

Exam Feedback

Thank you to those of you who have already completed our post-exam feedback survey for teachers. The data gathered is very helpful in informing our work as we reflect on the recent exam series and consider how we might improve the experience of teachers and students in the future.

If you haven't yet completed the survey, please do take a look!

Please see my recent 'Getting Ready for Results Day' update for all the information you need to support students and understand their results once they are published in August.

A letter to Year 13 students from Ofqual and UCAS has recently been published on the gov.uk website. It clarifies how exams are marked and grade boundaries are set, with some advice regarding preparations for results day.

Psychology specifications clarification

Our three specifications, for GCSE psychology, A Level psychology and for International A Level psychology, remain unchanged for the new cohort of students who will be starting the course in August or September (or in January 2025 for some international centres). For A Level and International A Level, the 2015 specifications remain current, and for GCSE the 2017 specification remains current, and all the resources on the qualification website are up-to-date.
