BTEC Tech Award in Sport (2022)-Clarification on expectations for Component 2, Task 1
Calling all BTEC Teachers delivering the new BTEC Level 3 Technical Personal Trainer qualification from September 2025
BTEC Tech Award in Sport (2022) - Component 2 Task 1
There has been a lot of discussion about expectations for Task 1 on Component 2. Learners will understand each of the components of physical and skill-related fitness. They will be able to apply this understanding to how these components of fitness are used in team sports, individual sports, outdoor activities and physical fitness activities and how they impact on performance.
‘Outdoor Activity’ can include an outdoor team sport, an individual sport, a physical activity (such as an outdoor bootcamp, circuit training, or yoga session), or an outdoor adventurous activity. The choice is left to the learner, based on their knowledge and interests in sports or physical activities. This flexibility is intended to make the task more accessible and inclusive for learners at this level of study.
Team Sports | Individual Sports | Physical Fitness Activities | Outdoor Activities |
---|---|---|---|
Team sports (e.g. badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders, rugby and tennis) | Individual sports (e.g. athletics, gymnastics) | Physical fitness activities e.g. dance, outdoor bootcamp, circuit training, or yoga session) | Team sports taking place outdoors (e.g. badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders, rugby and tennis)
Individual sports taking place outdoors (e.g. athletics, gymnastics)
Physical fitness activities taking place outdoors (e.g. dance, outdoor bootcamp, circuit training, or yoga session)
Outdoor activities – activities carried out outdoors or in recreation areas that are adventurous (e.g. climbing, mountain biking)
