There are 2 options for submitting authentication (mark) sheets:

Option 1: PAS Spreadsheet One Excel PAS spreadsheet for all candidates (the 2025 Excel spreadsheet has a maximum capacity of 30 candidates; if you have more than 30 candidates, an additional spreadsheet can be used). The spreadsheet may be completed using Desktop Excel or Excel for the web. Guidance will be provided for where to upload the Excel PAS spreadsheet on the portal for your centre.

Option 2: PAS PDF Individual PDF PAS for sampled candidates.

Declarations For both PAS spreadsheet and PAS PDF, teacher assessors and students should sign declarations by typing their names into the relevant boxes and dating the form.

To support centres with the use of the new Excel CAS and PAS we have provided a short guidance video for each.

Access to scripts

After the summer 2024 results are published in August, centres will be able to view and download scripts which have been marked online free of charge from our Self-Service Portal via Edexcel Online.

The Self-Service Portal will be available until the final post-results deadline for each exam series:

  • Thursday 22 August - Friday 13 December 2024

Customers should save and/or print any scripts they need for teaching and learning purposes before the post-results deadline.

Scripts do not have examiner annotation on them. The marked script allows teachers to evaluate how the student performed on particular questions in relation to what they have been taught; the Principal Examiner's Report and the exemplars that we make available demonstrate how the mark scheme is applied.
If scripts have been marked "traditionally" (i.e. not online), centres will have to request them via the Post Results section of Edexcel Online as in previous exam series.

These scripts will also be free of charge, but the final dates to request them are the same as the published JCQ Access to Scripts deadlines.

Training

We are pleased to be running a series of free online training events for each component in our GCSE Music qualification this term.

Our GCSE Component 1 and Component 2 coursework marking training events are designed to help you feel more confident understanding and applying the assessment criteria when marking work internally through live marking exercises. Our new course, Effective strategies for teaching the GCSE Music appraising paper will support you delivering the exam component.
