A level Music Technology
There has been a small change in the requirements for information submitted with the log books for both Recording and Technology-based Composition components. Diagrams will no longer be acceptable and students must submit photographs of their set up of microphones for Recording. For Technology-based Composition there is now a section to complete to credit parts performed by other musicians.
New ASG, PAS and CAS forms for A level Music
We have published the new Administrative Support Guide, PAS form and CAS form to submit with student work for assessment in summer 2020. Please use the new forms to record marks and comments for submission with your centre sample in May. If you have already recorded work and have used the previous forms from last year, please don't feel you need to copy this across to the new forms. The ASG includes important information about each component for the 2020 exam series, so please do read this to ensure you have this information.
Exam entries
Exam entries for summer 2020 assessment must be made by 21 February 2020. After this date late entry fees may be charged. Please note that your exams officer will have their own internal deadlines in order to get the information necessary to make entries.
The entry code for AS level Music is 8MU0 and the entry code for A level Music is 9MU0. The entry code for AS level Music Technology is 8MT0 and the entry code for A level Music Technology is 9MT0. However, there are some option codes for any students resitting the qualification who wish to carry forward marks from the previous series.

Access to scripts
The free access to scripts service will close on Friday 13 December. If you want to download and save any scripts from your students summer 2019 exams then you will need to do this by Friday 13 December.
Scripts do not have examiner annotation on them. The marked script allows teachers to evaluate how the student performed on particular questions in relation to what they have been taught; the Principal Examiner's Report and the exemplars that we make available demonstrate how the mark scheme is applied.
If scripts have been marked "traditionally" (i.e. not online), centres will have to request them via the Post Results section of Edexcel Online as in previous exam series.
On Wenlock Edge
Three of the songs from Ralph Vaughan Williams’s 'On Wenlock Edge' are set works for our music A level students. The English Tenor, Daniel Norman, has produced an animated shadow play film with the same title directed by Jeremy Hamway Bidgood, which has been screening during live performances with the Brodsky Quartet and Sholto Kynoch. This film is now also a cinematic release. The episodes of the film which illustrate the three A level songs are about to made freely available on YouTube as a resource for our students. Dan and Jeremy's previous YouTube collaboration, 'Erlkönig', has been used by music and German teachers all over the world, and from the comments on the film is clearly popular with students as they have come back to it after being shown it at school. It has had over 5 million views.
The first film, of the title song 'On Wenlock Edge', is now available and can be seen on YouTube.
