Updates
You will be receiving the hard copies of the technical study briefs towards the end of this month and these include hard copies of the other 6MU05 briefs. The technical studies can be released after 1 April but can not be opened until the task is being sat by the students under the controlled conditions detailed within the specification. Your Exams Officer will receive these and keep them securley. If you do not think they have been received by your centre please do email myself and I can follow this up for you.
AS and A level Music
For the new AS level Music specification (8MU0) component 3 we will be offering the option to have an audio download for the exam. This will be a secure download available 24 hours before the exam. As the exam is on Monday 22 May this will be available on Friday 19 May.
We have made some small amendments to some of the free support guides on the set works available online. This includes the notes on Vaughan Williams, Courtney Pine and Familia Valera Miranda.
We have also now made available some model answers for question 5 in the AS and A level exams. This question covers unfamiliar music and we have provided these to give examples of how these questions should be approached.
Withdrawal of OPTEMS
In order to help increase security, and also allow more time for centres to process and submit their centre assessed marks, from Summer 2017 we will only be allowing centres to submit those marks online; via Edexcel Online or Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
