Publication of consultation outcomes for new GCSEs in French, German and Spanish
On Friday 14 January 2022, both the DfE and Ofqual published the outcomes of their consultations on the new subject content for GCSEs in French, German and Spanish.
Please note that there has been a change to the initial proposal for these GCSEs to be introduced for first teaching from September 2023.
It has now been confirmed that first teaching of these GCSEs will be from September 2024.
Therefore, students currently in Year 7 will be the first students to sit these examinations in summer 2026.
The new subject content only impacts on French, German and Spanish GCSEs.
