CAS Network event 27 Feb 2024 from 16:00 to 17:00
A practical demonstration of the Pearson Edexcel Paper 2 on-screen assessment covering the logistics of running the assessment from a student's perspective. Additional time for questions about all aspects of the Pearson Edexcel GCSE Computer Science specification and assessments. This session would be excellent for any teachers who would like to know more about this approach so that they can consider the use of this for their students.

Excellent opportunity to join this growing team and gain invaluable CPD.
A GCSE -Computer Science (2020 Specification) Examiner will mark candidates’ responses in accordance with the pre-defined mark scheme, whilst adhering to conditions of recognition and examination procedures. A high level of subject knowledge is necessary in order to apply the mark scheme. Each examiner will receive an agreed allocation of scripts.
Please note that if you wish to be considered you must have experience with Python Computer Language for 1CP2 02.
Responsibilities
- To mark accurately and consistently to ensure overall standards are maintained
- To submit samples to your Team Leader at designated times
- To ensure milestones for marking are adhered to
- To ensure all administration is completed as specified
Experience/qualifications needed
- You will have one academic year's worth of teaching experience: a. within the last 8 years b. within the relevant qualification and subject
- You will have a degree or equivalent
- You will be a qualified teacher
- You will have experience in Python

Preparing for the Summer Exam
This event is broken down into three parts. Part 1 will summarise the requirements of Components 1 and 2 and then focus on the logistics and setup of the onscreen component. Part two will look at a range of question types, providing guidance on how best to approach these questions with suitable examples. The final part is a live Q&A session where you have the opportunity to speak to the trainer and ask any questions you may have to help you prepare for the summer exams.

Summer 2022 and 2023 assessment series demonstrated that we have improved accessibility on Paper 1 and the new Paper 2 performed really well. We are in line with other AOs in terms of outcomes. The question now is, why would everyone not, adopt our specification? – if you are convinced, please do make sure you spread the word among colleagues, moving to our specification is easily done as so much of the content is the same or similar and the practical programming aspect of our spec and the lack of a special pseudocode language are motives enough!
