Assessment Arrangements for 2020
At the start of the year, Ofqual announced that students taking GCSE Computer Science assessments in 2018 or 2019 would have their grades based on their exam performance alone.
On 20 April, Ofqual announced the revised assessment arrangements will continue for the 2020 exam series for all Awarding Organisations.
Students taking Pearson Edexcel GCSE Computer Science will be formally assessed only by the two exam components in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Students must still complete a 20 hour timetabled Programming Project set by Pearson, published in September, but this will not be formally marked. The Programming project will help students to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills involved in their chosen programming language.
Pearson are committed to giving you the guidance you need to continue with the Programming Project with confidence. We will review our Controlled Conditions for students taking the Programming Project in 2019 and 2020.
Pearson will continue to work with Ofqual on any proposals for the longer term.
We will be asking Computer Science teachers to provide feedback on the Programming Project arrangements and to get you involved on our proposal for the longer term.
