Our new Paper 1 option comprises the thematic study on Migrants to Britain, c800-present, and the accompanying historic environment on Notting Hill, c1948-c1970.

There have been some very minor changes as a result of Ofqual’s feedback and we will soon be updating the GCSE History specification and sample assessment materials on our website to include the new topic.

Support for the new Migration Thematic Study

As with any new content, we are working hard to ensure that you will get lots of new and updated free support materials, including free online training on the new topic. We are planning a free online Getting Ready to Teach Migration event for the summer term and will provide more information soon.

Pearson are developing a new Migration textbook, written by Rosemary Rees, Anthony Warner and Joshua Garry. There will also be revision materials, as well as freely available teacher resources to support you in delivering this topic. We aim to release sample materials for the textbook after Easter.

Hodder Education are publishing a textbook by Abdul Mohamud and Dr Robin Whitburn from Justice 2 History. It’s due to publish in the autumn term and will be available in both paperback and eBook formats. They are also running topic-specific training which is available to book via their website.
