Rapid review outcome for Level 3 qualifications
The DfE published the results of their rapid review at the end of 2024. It saw a pause in defunding of 2 Health and Social Care qualifications. The BTEC Nationals Diploma and Extended Diploma will no longer be defunded in July 2025. This means there will be another cohort of learners in September 2025. This is the same for Applied Psychology that will have another year as well.
The BTEC Nationals Certificate, Extended Certificate and the Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care will be defunded on 31 July 2025.
New BTEC National Health and Social Care (AAQ)
This will go ahead in September 2025 as planned and is fully funded.
The DFE have said that the AAQ can now be taught alongside any other qualification to make an appropriate study plan for learners.
Paid for Resources for new AAQ
The paid for resources for the new AAQ will be published in April of 2025. Samples of the new material will be available to look at later this month.
Training
There are a number of training events for the new AAQ in Health and Social Care. These are free events to help you understand and plan for the new course.
