A level Geography NEA / coursework deadline and Fieldwork statement: 15 May

The deadline for submitting A level NEA samples and marks to us is 15 May 2025 for Summer 2025 certification. Please note that your Exams Officer may have their own internal deadlines and you also need to take into account the requirement to inform students of their centre assessed marks.

Be ready to provide additional samples.

As part of our usual moderation process, your moderator or Pearson may request further learner work or documents. If contacted, please upload these through Learner Work Transfer as soon as possible.

Need more help? We’ll be in touch directly with all centres that have summer internal assessment entries to offer more guidance. You can also reach out to us via the Pearson support portal.

What should the priorities be for future geography qualifications?

The DfE's Curriculum and Assessment review provides an important opportunity to bring together geography teachers and leaders to review recommendations and discuss the future of geography qualifications and support.

Over the coming weeks and months, the Pearson Geography Team will continue to talk to teachers, students, and subject experts to shape our plans for future qualifications and support.

Want to get involved?

Join one of our workshops in June to have your say. These events will be interactive and hands-on, a chance to hear our recommendations for future geography qualifications, listen to feedback from others, and share your views.

The workshops will take place on Thursday 19 June at 2.30pm and Wednesday 25 June at 2.30pm and will be held on MS Teams.

Geography in the News aims to stimulate discussion about the relevance of geography and its importance in helping us to make sense of the world around us. In this edition we have selected an article exploring the potential implications of India suspending a water sharing treaty with Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Kashmir.

Can India stop river water flowing into Pakistan?

At the recent GA Conference we ran a very well attended workshop where we shared our Curriculum and Assessment Review recommendations with delegates and asked them for their feedback. We found the feedback and discussion enormously helpful. We'll be sharing our recommendations and feedback in my next update!

We encourage you to join one of our workshops in June to find out more about our recommendations for future geography qualifications and to have your say and listen to feedback from others.

We ran an interactive poll on our GA Conference stand asking the question:

"What should the priority for Geography qualifications be at reform?"

"Content reduction" stood out as the most popular choice, indicating a strong consensus. Trailing behind but still showing significant support was "varied assessment". Content covering "contemporary challenges" and that is "representative" of students came next.
