June 2026 Geography Subject Update
Key dates for exam materials and insights and feedback for 2026 dates, alongside “Geography in the News” resources, and new opportunities to deepen students’ real-world understanding from ageing populations to cutting‑edge geospatial enquiry.
This summer we will be releasing question papers, mark schemes and examiner reports via the relevant qualification page on our website on the following dates:
- GCSE / International GCSE question papers will be released on 23 June 2026.
- GCSE / International GCSE mark schemes will be released on 21 July 2026.
- GCSE / International GCSE examiners reports will be made available on our website from 25 August 2026.
- AS / A level question papers will be released on 30 June 2026.
- AS / A level mark schemes will be released on 14 July 2026.
- AS / A level examiner reports will be available on our website from 18 August 2026.
- You will also be able to download GCSE and A level examiner reports from results day via ResultsPlus.

Geography in the News aims to stimulate discussion about the relevance of geography to our lives and its importance in helping us to make sense of the world around us.
This month in the news is the how UK population is expected to grow more slowly as deaths outnumber births, fertility falls, migration declines and the population ages. What are the consequences of this demographic change?

Develop GIS, sustainability and digital skills while completing an Extended Project Qualification through collaborative, real-world enquiry.
The Geospatial Innovation pathway, through its flagship Bloxham Sustainability Challenge, provides the structure, support and real-world context for centres to deliver a geospatial investigation. Delivered in partnership with Dalcour Maclaren and supported by Esri’s ArcGIS Online platform, the challenge enables students to develop GIS, sustainability and digital skills while completing a Project Qualification through collaborative, real-world enquiry.
Ofqual has launched a podcast for teachers and school leaders.
'Can I Just Qualify That?' will be built around conversations that matter and advice you can use. The first few episodes will cover everything from qualification reform and how GCSE and A level grading works, to helpful tips for exam season, results days, and cyber security.
