Further update on Pearson Edexcel GCSE English 2.0
We know how difficult and disruptive it has been for those students who did not receive the grades they hoped for in this summer’s GCSE English 2.0 qualification.
We apologise for not clearly communicating to schools and colleges during the 2023/2024 academic year the fact that grade boundaries may change – sometimes significantly - and for the impact this had on students, educators, parents, and guardians on results day in summer 2024.
We welcome the opportunity to work alongside Luminate and other colleges to create a better system for students aged 16+ to gain their GCSEs in English and Maths. It is evident that the current resits policy is not meeting the needs of many students and we need a new approach that better supports them in progressing in their studies, careers and life ambitions. We stand ready to play our part in helping evolve the system to maximise the chances of success for all young people.
