December 2024 Engineering update
Welcome to this December update for our BTEC Engineering qualifications.
As this is my last update before the break, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank you for all your hard work and commitment this term and to wish you a joyful and relaxing time over the holidays.

Latest updates on Level 3 qualification funding in England
On 12 December 2024, the DfE published the outcomes of the Review of Qualifications Reform at Level 3 in England. This confirms which qualifications will be funded for 16–19 learners in England for the academic years 2025/26 and 2026/27.

There are some good news for Engineering, Funding for most sizes of the current BTEC Nationals in Engineering (2017) and BTEC Specialist AME qualification have been extended. Check the funding guide to see which qualifications have been extended to 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 for first teach.

Are you in Wales or Northern Ireland?
The post-16 Level 3 vocational qualification reforms affect England only and do not affect Wales and Northern Ireland.
These sessions are for centres in England only and will focus on the impact of Government reforms on qualifications and funding. You will hear our latest updates in response to Government's announcement (scheduled for December) after the pause and review and have the opportunity to ask questions or hear from other centres who may have questions of their own.
