Planning to teach BTEC National Certificate in Engineering?
You can start planning to teach the new certificate size of this qualification from September 2018. The first external assessment will be in 2019.
The qualification is approved for headline measures in 2020 Applied General lists.
Purpose
This qualification is intended for post-16 learners who want to continue their education through applied learning and who aim to progress to higher education and ultimately employment. It aims to provide a coherent introduction to study of the engineering sector.
Structure of the BTEC National Certificate in Engineering
The new size of this qualification is equivalent to half of an A level and there are two mandatory units, one of which is externally assessed. The external assessment is 67% of the qualification.
