Future of BTEC level 3 Performing Arts update
We do expect that our BTEC level Nationals in Performing Arts qualifications will continue to be available after 2026; there will not be a T level in Performing Arts and Ofqual have made it clear (they made explicit reference to the subject) that there will be alternative provision ie BTEC qualifications in our sector.
We are waiting for Ofqual to release their conditions for the first wave of sectors at level 3. Performing Arts is in wave 3/4 and the development of the new qualifications isn't going to begin yet.
August 2026 is the last date of registration for the current version of the qualification; we will keep you informed when we receive more information from Ofqual about the possible options for future versions of BTEC Nationals in Performing Arts qualifications.
BTEC Level 1 Introductory Vocational Studies
Funding has been withdrawn for 16+ learmers wanting to complete the BTEC Level 1 Introductory qualifications in Performing Arts (the qualifications still attract funding for 14-16 year olds).
As an alternative, you could consider the BTEC Level 1 Introductory in Vocational Studies; it contains Performing Arts specific units plus a lot of the units can be contextualised for a performing arts learner.
