GCSE and A level Coursework Marking Training Event 2021-2022
Here is an update on the Modules 1-4 coursework marking training event in 2021-2022 academic year.
Coursework marking training event modules information
This coursework marking training event is designed for teachers delivering our Pearson Edexcel GCSE and A level Design and Technology qualification.
The training is broken down into four modules of which modules 1-3 can be completed in your own time and you can take them as many times as you need.
The structure of the modules is based around the principles we use when training our moderators.
The four modules are:
Module 1: Understanding the assessment requirements for Component 2 (pre-recorded training)
In this module our senior examiner will take you through the assessment requirements for Component 2 to support your understanding of how to apply the assessment criteria.
As part of this training, we will look at an exemplar to show you how to apply the assessment criteria to determine a mark.
On completion of this module, you can move onto module 2 where you can practice marking a number of exemplars at a convenient time and place.
Module 2: Applying the assessment criteria for Component 2 (marking exercise)
In this module you will be marking exemplars using the assessment criteria in preparation for module 3.
You will need to download the following materials:
Six exemplars across a range of three material categories. You have the option to work through all six exemplars or select material categories according to your preference.
The assessment criteria allowing you to capture the marks for each exemplar
If you are unsure about the requirements of the assessment, please go back to module 1.
Module 3: Understanding the marks given for each exemplar (pre-recorded training)
In this module our senior examiner will look at each of the exemplars in module 2 and explain the marks given and why.
If you feel that you require more training/support after completing modules 1-3, please sign up to one of our live Q&A sessions (module 4).
In addition, if after completing modules 1-3 you have any questions you want to raise, then please submit your questions via the survey provided. These questions will form part of the FAQs that will be covered in module 4, the live Q&A training.
Module 4: Live Q&A session (online event)
This training is intended for centres who, after completing modules 1-3, still require further support. It is broken down into two parts. The first part is a group exercise where you will mark a new exemplar not seen in modules 1-3.
The second part is a live Q&A session where you have an opportunity to speak to an experienced examining team member who will be able to answer questions you may have previously submitted as part of module 3, along with any additional questions you may have.
To get the most out of this session, it is essential to complete modules 1-3 in advance.
If you feel that you require more training/support after completing modules 1-3, please sign up to one of our live Q&A sessions (module 4).
