Digital news

The Digital T Level Network event in October was well attended and was mainly focused on the experiences of the 2020 T Level provider Fareham College. Debbie Eacott delivered a frank and open experience of dealing with every aspect of T Levels. Her presentation delved into the concepts of designing the T level (being part of the original Provider Validation Panel), all the way through to pitching the qualifications to parents and students. A recording of her presentation will be available on the T Levels webpage.

Our process to review and update the Digital T Level is underway – thank you to Providers who have taken part in this. These changes will need to be validated by employers so if you work with one who’d be interested or are a digital employer who’d like to collaborate on T Levels, please contact atif.khan@pearson.com

Construction news

Thanks to those of you who attended the October Construction network event, which included a useful session on teaching practice and experience led by Exeter College, with contributions from others. For the Forthcoming Network event on 30th November we hope to provide a more formal training session on delivering the occupational specialisms (TBC), following feedback from providers who've asked for more guidance on this element.

We are working with DFE on communications to HEIs for the T Level, holding a session later this month to improve awareness and acceptance for admissions to construction-related degrees. A particular focus will be on the level and coverage of maths, a grounding of which is essential to engineering-related disciplines. This follows the recent confirmation by the Joint Board of Moderators that the T Level can meet the EngTech Educational Base for Civil, Structural and Highways Engineers, so we are hopeful that HEI acceptance will continue to increase.

Accounting and Finance news

In mid-September we gained approval from the Institute for the Technical Qualification in Accounting and the Technical Qualification in Finance.

We are currently working on finalising the specifications and specimen assessment materials and we hope to have published versions available this month.

Our first Provider Support events will be Getting to Know the Specification. These will be pre-recorded webinars giving you a high-level look at the qualification and specification. We’ll release these from November, as they are pre-recorded, you’ll be able to watch them at your leisure, use on internal inset, or share with colleagues. Live events are planned for the Spring and Summer terms, this will include Getting Ready to Teach, and Getting Ready to Assess.

We’re starting to finalise our events for this academic year. More information will be released in advance of the spring term, but for those of you delivering Construction and Digital you’ll find the dates to our live Q&A Networks below.

Autumn Term Q&A Network Sessions

These half termly Q&A sessions with the Sector Manager and Subject Advisor will give you the opportunity to ask questions, discuss with other tutors your experience with delivering the T Level and share good practice. Details and weblinks to register onto our networking events are below.
