Specifications A and B

For UK centres, the new 4MA1 and 4MB1 specifications will be assessed for the first time in June 2018. The current 4MA0 and 4MB0 specifications will be assessed for the last time in January 2018. From the June 2018 exam series onwards UK centres must therefore enter their students for the new 4MA1 or 4MB1 specifications, with the new 9–1 grading system.

For international centres, the new 4MA1 and 4MB1 specifications will also be assessed for the first time in June 2018. However, the current 4MA0 and 4MB0 specifications will continue to be available for one more year, and will be assessed for the last time in January 2019. International centres can therefore choose between 4MA1/4MB1 and 4MA0/4MB0 for the June 2018 and January 2019 exam series. This is to allow those international centres that wish to do so to switch from the current A*–G grading system across to the new 9–1 grading system in all subjects in one exam series in June 2019.

Further Pure Mathematics

For all centres, the new 4PM1 specification will be assessed for the first time in June 2019, and the current 4PM0 specification will be assessed for the last time in January 2019.
