Clarification of oral arrangements for the International GCSEs and Edexcel Certificates in Chinese, French, German and Spanish
The specifications for these qualifications state that all speaking tests will be taken on a date chosen by the centre during the given assessment window.
We do, of course, accept that it may not be possible for centres with larger cohorts to carry out the orals on one day. In such cases, orals may be held on consecutive days within the assessment window, ensuring that all recordings are held securely in the centre before dispatch.
The specifications also imply that one teacher conducts the oral.
In larger centres, those teachers directly involved in the delivery of the qualification can conduct the orals with the students in their class(es). We accept that it is not practical for just one teacher to do this with all candidates at a centre with a large cohort.
