Notice to centres in Wales, NI and international: substituting legislation references

This notice applies to the BTEC Level 2 Firsts (2010, SRF* and 2012** suites), BTEC Level 3 Nationals (2010 and 2016** suites) and BTEC Level 1/2 Tech Awards**.
Many BTEC qualifications are made available to learners throughout the UK and internationally. However, the legislation, policies, regulations and organisations that are mentioned in the specification documents and assessment materials are usually those relevant to England, and may not be applicable in other countries. To ensure this does not present any barriers to learners outside of England, it remains possible to substitute such references when teaching and assessing learners with those that are current and applicable in the country you deliver.
This facility to substitute unit content only applies to references to legislation, policies, regulations and organisations. Please contact your Standards Verifier if you need further help and guidance.
We will also not penalise learners in the event they make references to outdated legislation.
