Suitable replacement qualifications for GCSE ICT
Following the announcement from the DfE in November 2015 that GCSE ICT would not be reformed, our options in Information Technology at KS4 include CiDA and the BTEC First Award.
Available qualifications
Available for teaching in September 2017:
- Certificate in Digital Applications (CiDA)

BTEC First in Information and Creative Technology
You can teach the existing BTEC First Award in I&CT. This qualification is on KS4 performance tables for 2018 but not for 2019. There will be no change to the specification.

BTEC Level 2 Technicals (IT Support)
This qualification will be available for post-16 students.
BTEC Tech Award in Digital Tools and Technologies
Following feedback from the DfE, we are reviewing our BTEC Tech Award in Digital Tools and Technologies and will let you know as soon as a revised specification is available. This would be for first teach September 2018 and for the 2020 KS4 performance tables in England.
