We're delighted to announce that our 2012 GCSE Geography B linear specification (2GB01) has now been fully accredited by Ofqual.
This follows Ofqual's recent announcement of a full accreditation review and strengthening of GCSE Geography specifications across all exam boards. Our accredited specification is now available for you to download.
Key changes
Specification:
- Structure unchanged
- Unit 1 - breadth and depth of existing content increased
Unit 2 - reworking and clarification of existing content and some new content to broaden the range of human geography - Unit 3 - remains a decision-making exercise. Removal of pre-release. Shorter resource booklet provided in the exam only. Key cross-cutting themes specified to teach synoptic understanding
- Unit 4 - largely unchanged. Tasks more focused.
Assessment:
- Linear assessment and spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG)
- Units 1 and 2 - scheme of assessment changed to better assess the range of content and depth of knowledge. All questions now 12 marks (plus SPaG). One hour 15 minute exams
- Unit 3 - now a ‘synoptic’ assessment - a decision-making exercise focused on problem-solving skills. One hour 30 minute exam.
