Question Papers

In response to feedback from teachers and to further support students we are happy to inform you that we have made some small changes to the format of some of the questions. These changes feature in GCSE English Language 2.0 and have been very well received by both teachers and students.

1. Reading Questions

Questions 2 and 3 (Paper 1) and Question 2 (Paper 2) will now include re-printed passages for students to refer to when answering, rather than providing line references on the whole extract provided in the source booklet. This allows students to look for the answer without having to move between two documents.

2. Writing Tasks

For Questions 5 and 6 (Paper 1) and Questions 8 and 9 (Paper 2) planning boxes have been added above the answer space.

The issue 3 Sample Assessment Materials (SAMs) booklet has been updated to reflect these changes. The November 2021 Question Paper will also be amended to reflect these changes and will be available from September 2022 on our website.

These changes will be introduced into the live papers in the November 2022 exam series. Please ensure that your students are aware of these changes when preparing them for examination from November 2022 onwards.

We value feedback and hope these changes help improve your students’ experience when sitting their exams.

Please contact Clare Haviland, our English Subject Advisor if you have any questions.
