Meeting Local Needs: changes to approval process for additionalalternative activities
Meeting Local Needs, the approval process for additional or alternative activities for GCSE Physical Education, has changed.
The rationale for the Meeting Local Needs process is to support centres in delivering the National Curriculum. This means that if you wish to offer activities not listed in the specification, you must seek approval from us. These activities must be available to the whole GCSE cohort, and delivered via your centre's curricular or extra-curricular activities.
To ensure that we can review all applications in the most effective manner, we have changed the approval process for applying to assess additional/alternative activities. You can find documents giving details of the updated process, including guidance on how to apply and the forms that should be completed, under 'Meeting Local Needs' on the course materials page.
If you wish to apply for approval to assess additional/alternative activities, you must now follow the new process.
The deadline for applications is 30 October in the academic year the activity will be assessed. Applications received after this date will not be considered until the following academic year.
