Every year we review our sampling strategy for BTEC courses, with a view to ensuring the right balance between setting standards and manageability in centres. This year we are adjusting the sampling requirement for the BTEC Tech Awards to ensure that you can have confidence in the integrity of the qualification outcomes.

The information below is a quick at a glance summary, aligned with the guidance published in our Guide to Quality Assurance (September 2019) and our Guide to Standards Verification (December 2019).

Many centres are delivering the Tech Awards for the first time this year, therefore, we are tailoring our Standards Verifier support depending on the needs of each of your programmes.

We allocated a sector-specific Standards Verifier (SV) in January 2019 Yes

This means each of your Tech Award courses will either receive "Enhanced" support and an SV will visit for sampling, or be "Medium" support and your SV will sample work remotely (electronically or via post - whichever your preference)

We will begin allocating SVs from 24 February 2020
