New register helps identify professionally qualified taxi drivers
A new national register for taxi and private hire drivers will help licensing authorities and operators identify people with our accredited qualifications.
The national register of taxi and private hire drivers has been developed by People 1st, the UK skills council for hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism.
Licensing authorities want driver trainers to use this register, so as a training provider, you can play a crucial role in making sure they do.
The Pearson qualifications accepted for drivers to be included on the register are:
- Pearson BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver (QCF) - 600/0049/1
- Pearson Edexcel Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving (Taxi and Private Hire) (QCF) - 600/0326/1
- *Pearson EDI Level 2 Certificate In Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver (QCF) - 600/0127/6
- *Pearson EDI Level 2 NVQ Certificate In Road Passenger Vehicle Driving (Taxi and Private Hire) (QCF) - 600/0072/7
Drivers can only register if they have a qualification less than three years old and delivered by a People 1st-accredited provider, so we can assure operators and licensing authorities that registered drivers have been trained in the right way to do their job.
