In October 2018, Qualifications Wales announced that they would be deferring the introduction of a number of the new Qualification Wales Health and Social Care qualifications, adopting a phased approach

The deferred qualifications include those that fall into the following two categories:

  • Level 3 GCE Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced in Health and Social Care, and Childcare
  • Level 3 Certificate and Diploma in Health and Social Care: Principles and Contexts

The approval of these qualification types by Qualifications Wales will now be restricted at a later date - now from September 2020. Click here for more information on the announcement on Qualifications Wales’ website.

What does this mean for my school or college?

This means that in September 2019, you can still choose to register learners on ten of our BTEC Level 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care. This includes the following eight qualifications, which now have a last registration date of 31 August 2020 and certification end date of 31 August 2022:

And in addition, the following two qualifications with a final registration date of 31 December 2020 and certification end date of 31 December 2022:

Please note that the Level 2 Health and Social Care provision is now restricted to a new suite of Qualification Wales titles. The details of these level 2 qualifications can be found on Qualifications Wales’ website.
