Updates to the RQF BTEC Higher National in Social and Community Work
Do you currently teach the RQF BTEC Higher National in Social and Community Work? Find out how changes to the qualification will affect you.
In reviewing the development of the RQF BTEC Higher National in Social and Community Work, and in discussion with colleges, practitioners and universities, we have identified the need to allow for more flexibility in the Integrated Health and Social Care pathway of the Higher National in Social and Community Work; to enable greater access to the range of Social Care related degree opportunities for students in different international locations.
To meet these needs, we have updated the qualification and removed the specialist unit requirements for this pathway at both levels 4 and 5. This increases the availability of Optional Units, and means that centres can construct programmes which meet their local need, though students will have a clear area of core skills, knowledge and understanding as reflected in the mandatory core units.
A detailed listing of changes to the qualification is available on the BTEC Higher National in Social and Community Work page.
