Guidance on Calculated Results for BTEC Higher Nationals

Further to this, we want to share with you details to support you with ‘Centre Assessment Grades’, Virtual Assessment Boards and remote sampling, during the Covid-19 restrictions, for qualifications that are covered by Ofqual’s Extraordinary Regulatory Framework, which include the BTEC Higher National suite of qualifications.   

Please note that this BTEC Higher National guidance is subject to the outcomes of the Ofqual consultation, to be issued on 22 May 2020, for vocational and technical qualifications, and any further directions from Ofqual and the Secretary of State.

Exceptional arrangements for assessment and grading in 2020

Whilst we have marked all of our guidance during this time as ‘proposed’ in recognition of the consultation, we would like to reassure you that we have been working closely with Ofqual and we would not expect any of our issued guidance to change materially. 

This guidance applies to BTEC Higher National students at UK centres, who would have either completed or achieved qualifications and/or unit results between 20 March 2020 and 31 July 2020.

We will be issuing written confirmation of the categories that your BTEC Higher National provision will fall into before the end of May 2020. Your External Examiner will receive the same information and will contact you only after that written confirmation has been received by you.
