BTEC Higher Nationals in Digital Technologies receives HTQ status
We are delighted to announce that the BTEC Higher National in Digital Technologies qualifications have been awarded Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) status, for first teach in September 2023.
This new approval system, based on employer-led occupational standards, was created after the Department for Education’s response to Reforming Higher Technical Education – July 2020 emphasised the need for prestigious qualifications that meet employer needs (at levels 4 and 5).
The suite of pathways comprises:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) Solutions and Applications
- Business Analytics and Change Management
- Cloud Networking
- Cyber Security
- Data Analytics
- Digital Communications Management
- Software Development and Programming.
Pearson was commissioned by, and developed this suite of qualifications collaboratively with, South Central Institute of Technology, who are based in Bletchley Park, the birthplace of the world's first programmable digital electronic computer, used for cracking the Enigma Machine and the home of the World War Two Codebreakers.
Alex Warner, Deputy Group Principal, MK College Group, said:
"The South Central Institute of Technology are delighted to hear of the positive news that the Higher National Diploma in Digital Technologies has been awarded Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) status. The HTQ approval process recognises that the Higher National Diploma in Digital Technologies, and the seven pathways within, provide the skills that are in-demand with employers. Since we started developing the qualifications, in early-2020, it was always our ambition to co-design and co-develop content with employers to ensure that learners who studied these pathways would fast track their Digital careers. This acknowledgement is testament to all the individuals and teams who have collaborated, including those employer partners and industry professionals who have supported, and continue to support ongoing development."
These (2023) qualifications are available for centres in England only. We will notify all centres once the specifications are available on the Pearson qualifications website. Centres in the rest of the world may deliver the Pearson BTEC Higher National Diploma in Digital Technologies (2021) qualifications.
